CranioSacral Therapy for Little People (Pediatric CranioSacral Therapy)

Be a Newborn:

"Feel the shock of a new and more harsh environment.

Become aware of the confusion created by the sudden change.

Feel the helplessness of not being able to tell the muscles of your body what to do, or if you can tell them, realizing that they can’t/won’t do what they are told.

Feel your vulnerabilities…

• the bigness of the new persons/creatures around you.

• the strangeness of the touch sensations and other sensory input.

• Feel the pains and the fears that may accompany these new encounters.

How would you like to have someone release your energy cysts, release your pains, release your fears?

How would you like a kind, loving touch, a soft voice, reassurance, and to bond and blend?

How would you like a good CranioSacral Therapist?"

Imagine all the pressure, shock and trauma put on your baby during childbirth: the pushing of contractions, the pressing of their little head on the pubic bone and sacrum, the bright lights shining on their sensitive eyes. These and other stresses of childbirth can have a potential long-term effect on the child. Below is a detailed list of the conditions that may be prevented or improved through CranioSacral Therapy.

Julie McKay Covert, CST-D, NCTMB is specifically trained in CranioSacral Therapy (CST) for Pediatrics and is a CST Pediatric Teaching Assistant. She specializes in CranioSacral Therapy because of how it can have profoundly beneficial healing effects on the body, while being a gentle, light touch therapy.

CranioSacral Therapy can be used during and after a pregnancy to treat mom and baby. In these cases CranioSacral Therapy can help relieve pain and discomfort as well as prevent difficulties for both the mom and the baby.

With early therapy for newborns and infants, a variety of central nervous problems along with digestive and sleep disorders can be reduced. Additionally children with learning disabilities, autism, cerebral palsy, seizures or other health challenges can experience less struggles and a better quality of life with CranioSacral Therapy.

Additionally, vaccinations create a tightening in the dura mater membrane, the membrane that surrounds the brain and spinal cord and divides the brain. This tightening can cause extreme discomfort to the child and can negatively affect many of the body’s physiological functions. CranioSacral Therapy can effectively relieve this tightening.

Typical CranioSacral Therapy sessions last in length anywhere from 15 minutes to more than an hour, depending upon the child and their situation. The initial evaluation often frees up restrictions allowing their body to restore a healthier balance. Sessions for that important little person can be done as soon after delivery as desired.

A complimentary "Let’s go visit Julie" meeting, prior to a child’s first appointment, is available. This is a short visit where you and your child can come to visit, see the new sites and sounds of the office and ask any questions. We might even demonstrate some CranioSacral Therapy on you, the parent.

Additional conditions that may be avoided or improved by treating newborns, infants and children:
